Planning permission was granted by Braintree District Council for the demolition of farm buildings and their replacement with a cattery, stabling and a indoor school within the setting of a Grade II listed farmhouse and conservation area.

One of the main challenges was to situate the stables and indoor school in a way that minimised the impact and influence upon the setting of the Grade II listed building.

The application also needed to take into account the presence of bats within the farmyard group, requiring the provision of hibernation and roosting boxes.

The completed development will provide jobs and training for members of the local community. It will also provide a cattery to serve a local need and, most importantly, it will enhance the appearance of the site within the conservation area.
