Conversion of a Former Forge Workshop to Holiday Accommodation

We presented a robust case for the conversion of a small workshop into a one-bedroom holiday cottage and a small extension as well. With limited scope for development and set within a limited plot we were able to design a scheme that maximised the potential of the site.

The issues we faced were the restrictive countryside policies, the site being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

By proactively monitoring the application we were able to nip in the bud an issue with the parking and access arrangement following comments from the County Highways and an objection from a neighbour. We had a response and amended plans in for the Planning Officer’s consideration in a matter of days of the issues arising.

Much to the delight of our client approval was given and all within the 8-week statutory deadline in which councils have to determine applications. Thanks to ADL for their swift response on the highway matters.
